So and Sew Plushies first started February 14, 2005. My friend was hosting a dorm event for Valentine's Day - a Voodoo Doll program for all those lonely and scorned hearts.
I was helping her stuff plushie bodies and I decided to make my very favorite character - Link from the Legend of Zelda. I took him to my first ConnectiCon and couldn't believe the attention he got!
After that, I started making plushies for my friends' birthdays and holidays. They encouraged me to sell them that summer at ConnectiCon. So with the help of my good friend, we created 60 plushies to sell. To our amazement, we sold out!
The rest, as they say, is history! My friend moved on to bigger and better things and I took over, working my way through an impressive list of commissions. I continue to go to conventions and work on commissions, developing new ways of creating things, and constantly learning.
In the fall of 2012, I resigned from my full-time position at Higher One to further pursue So and Sew Plushies as a business and then, after three and a half years working part-time at Barnes and Noble, I made the decision to go full-time with my plushies.
In 2018, we welcomed our daughter into the world! Since then, I’ve been navigating the tricky dynamic between being a momma, a crafter, a domestic goddess, a professional organizer with Messicality, and a supportive partner. I continue to learn, grow, and explore!
